Petra hike

When we travel to Jordan, a clear highlight is always the full day spent at the ancient Nabatean capital of Petra. This spectacular wonder of the ancient world located in southern Jordan’s sandstone cliffs emerged as a great city during the Hellenistic period (332-37 BC). We’ll be discussing Petra and the Nabateans some more in future blog posts, but here’s a brief introduction from the Biblical Archaeology Society’s OnSite series just released this week. Take a quick look around and hear some basic facts from archaeologist and editor of Biblical Archaeology Review Glenn Corbett.
