Christmas is such an exciting time to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus. Around the world we celebrate together in similar ways and in different. Christmas trees and nativity scenes, sweet treats and Christmas cookies are the window dressing to the main event, Jesus’s Birth. Many Christians celebrate our Savior’s Birth with a Christmas Eve service and many times a midnight mass.
We read in Luke 2:1-20 the story of Jesus’ birth in a humble stable surrounded by animals and a bed in a manger. In the U.S.A, many put up a nativity scene with a barn as a background. While in Bethlehem we see the actual location where animals were kept yet it is a cave and not our image of a wooden barn. Many people in the Middle East use a terra cotta planter as a back ground for their Nativity scenes, to represent the cave.
I hope you enjoy the photos below from our visit to the Church of the Nativity. Merry Christmas to all.
