I am especially excited that our next trip to the Holy Land will include an extension to Jordan. The sites of Petra, Madaba, Jerash, and Mt. Nebo, for example, offer something extraordinary to any Holy Land visit. In addition, we are looking at possible stops to see the area on the Jordanian side of the Jordan River traditionally associated with Jesus’ baptism (called Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan) as well as some recent archaeological discoveries at Tall el-Hammam that help us to understand Genesis 13. I will blog about all of these locations separately in the months ahead.
In the meantime, I highly recommend the Jordan Tourism Board’s “Immersive Experiences” website. They have some great virtual tours that will be of interest to our groups. It’s never too early to begin learning about the sites we’ll see so that we are well prepared for our visit and can get the most from our time there.
We hope to have have an announcement soon about a trip in 2022. If we are able to proceed with a pilgrimage sometime next year, we will get information out with an itinerary and preliminary pricing so that you can take a look and register whenever you are ready to travel again. I hope that you will join us for the Jordan extension at the end of the amazing Holy Land journey. Stay tuned to Faith Connections Travel and the blog as we learn together about the places we will visit, their biblical and historical significance, and much more when it comes to travel in the Holy Land.
